Role Summary
Are you passionate about plant-based diets? Do you have experience in marketing, with a focus on events, activations and community building? ProVeg South Africa is looking for an Events and Activations Coordinator to organise events to highlight the benefits of a plant-based diet. You will be responsible for all logistical elements of our events and activations, managing our volunteers and helping to grow our online community.
The types of events will vary, and could include plant-based sampling activations, corporate wellness days, film screenings, product launches, focus groups, volunteer training etc.
Team management is very important as you will be responsible for managing our volunteer network and ensuring that volunteers enjoy being part of our events.
Social media experience will be an integral part of this role and will be used to advertise events, highlight the events and activations we host, and inspire our online community.

Job Title: Activations and Community Coordinator
Hours per Week: 40

Reports to: Director, ProVeg South Africa
Contract type: Permanent
Salary: R20-28k total cost to company
Responsibilities
Event and activation coordination (70%):
Project management, an on-site running of all events and activations.
Coordinating and managing teams of event volunteers
Management of any event interns
Management of event budgets
Assisting the Corporate Engagement team with securing event sponsorships
Data collection at events where needed
Maintenance of event checklists and guidelines
Coordinate the design, procurement, and adequate display of ProVeg South Africa branded collateral
Facilitating the booking and training of volunteers for events
Taking responsibility for event equipment
Evaluating effectiveness of events, activations and related activities and recommend improvements.
Negotiating with vendors to achieve the most favourable terms
Maintain a vendor database, including relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
When required, hiring and supervising freelance staff and vendors.
Volunteer Management (10%):
Growing and managing a team of volunteers
Training, coordinating and managing teams of event volunteers
Planning of volunteer team-building events
Social Media (20%):
Managing Instagram and Facebook accounts
Creating content
Engaging with our community
Facebook and Instagram advertising
Coordinating social media competitions
Liaising with ProVeg International to ensure alignment
Managing a social media content schedule
Compiling a monthly social media review
Assisting the PR Manager with the monthly Mailchimp newsletter
Assisting the Corporate Engagement team in securing marketing partnerships
Other ad hoc tasks as required.
Qualifications
Required (please do not apply if you do not have all of the requirements).:
Alignment with ProVeg International's vision and mission. Familiarity with the vision is essential and alignment must be demonstrated in the application
Relevant degree and a minimum of 3 years proven experience in event or activations management, OR
A minimum of 6 years proven experience in event or activations management
Experience managing teams and working with volunteers
Have experience in managing budgets
Experience with content creation and management of social media profiles
Assertive personality, and experience in ensuring adherence to organisational policies and procedures
Excellent presentation skills and project management capability
Excellent written and verbal English skills
Outgoing and confident, able to network effectively and represent the organisation with professionalism
Ability to provide constructive feedback in a timely manner to oneself and team members that contributes to individual and organisational growth. Actively seeks feedback and proactively communicates to cultivate a positive, productive and solution-focused work environment.
Must be a flexible and a creative problem solver
Must be Cape-Town based
Willingness to travel as and when required mostly within the greater Cape Town area, and occasionally other major South African cities.
Smart phone with internet access.
Advantageous:
Proficiency in the Google Suite – Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, as well as Canva
Experience working in a non-profit environment or in a field relating to veganism, health, environment, animal rights/welfare or food
Fluent in additional official South African languages
Experience with Wordpress, MailChimp or other mass-emailing platforms
Knowledge of the South African vegan-vegetarian scene and global veg-trends
Corporate experience, especially with the food and plant-based food sector
Experience with fundraising
